I've been thinking about this verse today after learning that a dear Christian woman from our previous congregation was called home to heaven. I know we don't really like to talk about death, especially at Christmas, but the whole reason Jesus came into the world was to conquer death. Because of him, death, sin, the law--none of it has power over us anymore.
So though we mourn with this woman's family as they miss her dearly, we can also rejoice with them that Jesus has given her victory over death, and she gets to spend Christmas in heaven with him. What an amazing God we have to give us such a promise!
